Irving (Irv) Carey*      Series 7, 8, 63 & 66

Irving (Irv) Carey began his career in financial planning in 1991after serving six years in the US Marine Corp. as a Corporal in the Amphibious Assault Division. Early on he realized his passion for educating clients about financial matters and he still finds it to be the most important and exciting role in financial planning.

Irv's primary focus is on asset allocation and portfolio management.  He uses logic as well as discipline when working with his clients by helping them map out a plan to quantify their lifestyle needs, which ultimately results in a customized portfolio.

Often times Irv is asked, "why should I work with you?" and he responds, "Because I will take the time to understand what your needs are and work with you each step of the way when making important financial decisions."

Irv is tireless when it comes to telling individuals and families how important it is to plan early. In fact, he encourages his clients to bring their children and grandchildren – he refers to it as "The First Generation of Investors".  They even discuss lifestyle issues like new cars, credit card debt, career changes, and saving money at an early age.

He also makes sure his clients are comfortable asking him "any and all" questions – as he remembers only too well being in the same boat when he first entered into the financial arena as a registered representative in 1991.  Irv adds,"Questions are great and I encourage them every step of the way."

Since joining the Peak team, Irv has also expanded his client base by locating his practice inside two credit unions in Colorado. Being located within a credit union creates great opportunities to discuss the fundamentals of financial planning and review options available to the credit union members. Options they may have not addressed over the years and ones that can better serve their needs in the future, including 529 and 401K plans.

Prior to joining Peak Capital Investment Services, Irv worked with Charles Schwab and Chase Investment Services,where he assisted in the creation and implementation of financial plans for recently retired, downsized employees, as well as individuals building and accumulating wealth. He also, quite uniquely, was a locomotive engineer for the Southern Pacific Rail Corporation back in the mid 90's.

Irv and his wife were married in 1992 and have four children; three girls and a boy.  He especially enjoys classic cars and has a 1969 "442 Oldsmobile" classic that he jokingly refers to as the "bankers" muscle car.  He enjoys spending time with his family and, quite ironically, watching financial programs on CNBC as well as reading financial publications including Bloomberg and Investment News.  Irv works with clients out of the Colorado Peak office.
